Meet the Quiet Team

The Quiet Site is more than just a place to stay it’s shaped by the people behind it. Our team is made up of friendly, knowledgeable individuals who take pride in looking after guests and creating a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere from the moment you arrive.

Daniel

Daniel has been at The Quiet Site for 30 years and still loves everything about running a holiday park. In his spare time Daniel enjoys fell walking, helping manage the Ullswater Hopper Buses and dreaming up new things to do at The Quiet Site!

George

Our general manager, George is the 3rd generation of Holders to be associated with The Quiet Site. In his spare time George is a keen horseman. He supports Arsenal, plays in local 5 a side competitions and is renovating a farm house with his partner Libby.

Owen

Our Head Barman, Owen, is a much-loved member of the team and a real one-off. In his spare time he keeps goats and makes cheese, writes and directs the local pantomime, and sits on the Parish Council. He also runs all aspects of the bar.

Jenny

Heading up our reception team, Jenny has just completed her first year with us. She has extensive hospitality experience and previously headed up the front of house at a Michelin-starred restaurant and hotel. Jenny is involved in running the Ullswater Association and enjoys park runs in her spare time.

Rebecca

Rebecca lives locally and joined us part-time while still at school. Positive and capable, she quickly mastered running reception and now joins us during her university holidays while studying medicine. Also pictured is Jeffrey Sausage, who keeps an eye on late availability.

Hannah & Ruby

Joining us in 2026, Hannah and Ruby help create the lovely food at The Quiet Bite. Hannah is a fabulous artist, bringing creativity and flair while Ruby has a love of writing poetry. They are both keen fell walkers and are looking forward to ticking off a few Wainwrights!

Josh & Sarah

Joining us in 2025 as site wardens, Josh and Sarah have quickly established themselves as excellent team members. Unexpected skills include upholstery!

Graham

Graham heads up the grounds team at The Quiet Site. A former outdoor instructor, he loves the Lake District and is very knowledgeable about the fells.

Bro

Bro splits her time here between housekeeping and running The Quiet Bar. In her spare time she helps her husband Andy train racehorses!

Brenda & Nicola

Brenda has been with us for many years and heads up the housekeeping team (as well as being Owen’s Mum!) Nicola joined the housekeeping team in 2025 and has since quickly become a real asset.

Luke & Natasha

Natasha and Luke have rejoined us for a second year and we could not be happier! They are both all-rounders so could pop up anywhere, although Natasha is mostly based in The Quiet Bite.

Judy

The books here at The Quiet Site have been kept balanced for the last 10 years by Judy. We all look forward to seeing Judy once a week, but none more so than our site dog, Peggy, who joins joins Judy for a bacon roll breakfast every Tuesday morning!

Libby

Libby can be found in The Quiet Bite serving delicious pizza or tasty bacon rolls. In her spare time she enjoys riding horses and show jumps to a very high level.

Jo & Paul

Jo and Paul are new to The Quiet Site but bring many years of experience in the hospitality industry. We’re really looking forward to getting to know them better in the team.

Chris

Chris and his Tirril Brewery have been supplying us with quality beer for more than 20 years. A brewing master, Chris is responsible for helping The Quiet Bar be one of the best bars in the Lakes!

David & the build team

David and his team of builders have been creating beautiful things at The Quiet Site for the last 20 years. Their first job, way back in 2006, was to re-roof the bar. Completed projects include 15 Hobbit Holes, 15 Gingerbread Houses, 18 glamping cabins, a biomass boiler room, and major bar and service block upgrades.

The Dobinsons

Raymond, Trevor and three generation of the Dobinson family have been involved in the groundworks at The Quiet Site for the last 50 years. It was Raymond’s uncle who first started camping here in the 1960s, so it’s fabulous they still have a hand in how things are developed. Much of what you see here today started with these guys!

Ryan

Ryan has been creating beautiful joinery for us for many years now. His piece de resistance is the silver birch tree sculpture that grows through our zero-waste shop. Ryan’s project at The Quiet Site to date include: the shop counter, shelves, 20 ensuite bathroom joinery, conference room table, bar balcony joinery, gingerbread house doors and more!

Kyle

Kyle is the second generation of the Benson family to keep the lights on here. He has overseen all major projects for the last 5 years, taking over from his father, Stephen, and business partner Simon. 2025 saw a complete overhall of all our electric hook ups. 2026 sees a new 350KVA transformer arrive along with a new meter room and associated works. More car chargers will be coming online in the Autumn.

Jacob

One of the very best up-and-coming plumbers in the business, Jacob took over our plumbing after the sad death of Cumbria’s infamous ‘Bowsey’. Always upbeat and positive, Jacob is an early starter and makes sure our plumbing is all top notch.

Peggy

Locally born Peggy joined the team in 2023. She is a rough coated Jack Russell and can often be found in our reception area. In 2024 she completed all the Wainwright Fells in 12 months, helping to raise more than £20k for charity. Her favourite mountain is Blencathra and she loves to swim in Ullswater
