On-site access information

LOCATION

The Quiet Site is accessed from the M6 J40; A66 for Keswick; A592 for Ullswater. Turn right at the lake and then right at the Brackenrigg Inn. The site is well signposted and situated on the right after 1.5 miles.

Our shop and reception is accessed from the main entry way via level paving. It is open 9-6 every day and is  always staffed. This is also the shop where essentials such as milk, bread and eggs as well as many more zero waste options can be purchased.

The roads and paths around the park at The Quiet Site are mainly constructed from tarmac. Some paths leading to our Glamping Accommodation are constructed with loose pea gravel. We take patrons’ safety seriously and have a 5 mph speed limit in operation around the park. All pitches are directly accessible from the road system. The campsite has low level lighting, is level or gently sloping.

Please see Glamping Accessibility  and click on the ‘Getting around inside’ section for access details to our glamping options.

The hard standing pitches are spacious, with room for caravan, awning and vehicle. The surface is constructed from compacted hardcore. There is ample space between pitches and vehicles can be parked adjacent to each pitch. Each hard standing has its own clearly marked electric hook up point which is situated close by and shared between 2 pitches.

The tent pitches are located at the top of the site, offering flat areas for camping. The surface of the pitches is a mix of grass and pea gravel. Cars can be parked on hardcore gravel to the side of the road in front of the tent pitch. Tents can also be pitched.

Each accommodation has allocated parking either next to or very close to the unit. This is generally a gravel or tarmac level space.

There are numerous water points distributed across the park.  All taps offer drinking water.

The site has one centrally heated service block located near to the reception, with a car parking area to the side. The main block contains 20 individual shower rooms containing a shower, toilet and sink.  One shower room contains a baby bath and nappy bin. Another shower room has an easy access shower chair and support rails. All of our bathrooms are gender neutral.

Lighting throughout the block is regulated by a series of proximity sensors and will automatically turn on and off.

The laundry room is located by the side of the main service block. It contains 2 front loading commercial coin operated washing machines and 2 front loading commercial coin operated tumble dryers. There is a small step at the threshold to this room.

The Camper’s kitchen is found to the side of the main services block, down 3 sets of stone steps. The first set is made up of 7 steps, then a set of 4 before reaching the door, with 3 steps inside the room. The Camper’s Kitchen houses 2 kettles, 2 washing up sinks, 2 fridges, 2 freezers a toaster and a microwave.

Off‐site, the nearest shops are in Pooley Bridge, just a 10 minute drive away; a selection of supermarkets can be found in Penrith, 15 minutes drive from the park.

The bar is situated next to the shop, through the main doorway and entrance hall. There is level access to the bar. General tourist information, including maps of the area and a local bus timetable are displayed in the entrance to the bar.

There are  two 11KW car chargers on site.

There is a purpose built take-away kitchen accessed from level tarmac. Pizzas are served through a window hatch with picnic benches in front. The pizzas and breakfast rolls do contain gluten, vegan options are available.
