At The Quiet Site, we have 15 unique, Hobbit Holes. They are large underground living spaces with amazing views over the Ullswater valley. Each Hobbit Hole is superbly insulated, energy efficient, secure and virtually invisible in our gorgeous Lake District landscape unless you know where to look.
What's included
SLEEPING
Designed for a spacious and simple family glamping stay, each Glamping Burrow can sleep up to 2 adults and 4 children. Inside, there’s a large soft covered 3m x 2m sleep ledge, giving you a cosy base to settle into after a day exploring Ullswater and the Lake District.
BATHROOM
Each Glamping Burrow includes a toilet and wash basin, so you have your own private facilities close at hand. Guests can also make use of The Quiet Site’s shared shower and wash facilities during their stay.
KITCHEN AREA
Inside your Burrow, you’ll find a kettle, microwave and fridge, making it easy to prepare simple meals, drinks and snacks. There’s also a bench and table, ideal for relaxed breakfasts, rainy day meals or planning your next Lake District adventure.
OUTDOOR SPACE
Outside, each Glamping Burrow has a large covered patio with beautiful views across Ullswater and the surrounding fells. The sheltered space is suitable for portable BBQs and includes a picnic table, creating a lovely indoor/outdoor living area whatever the Cumbrian weather brings.
AMENITIES
Your Glamping Burrow includes heating, lighting, plug sockets, USB charge sockets, WiFi and a bin. The Burrows are well insulated, secure and energy efficient, making them a comfortable and practical glamping option throughout the season.
WHAT TO BRING
A unique glamping experience
At four times larger than a standard Camping Pod, they are suitable for larger families or those wanting glamping accommodation that’s a little more spacious.
The generous size of our Hobbit Hole makes them ideal for family living. The interior is 15m square and can comfortably accommodate up to 2 adults and 4 children. Inside you’ll find a bench, table, heater, bin, lights, plugs and USB charge sockets. A large soft covered sleep ledge (3m x 2m) covers one end.
The simplicity of this accommodation and lack of soft furnishings lends itself to an ease of cleaning that makes it incredibly safe.
What does it cost to stay in a Hobbit Hole?
One night will cost from £85 to £160 per night for up to 2 adults and up to 4 children.
Small group bookings of up to two families/couples are only accepted after contacting the office. We reserve the right to decline a booking or charge a noise deposit.
